Audition for the Remaining 2023/24 Season is Still Open!

Message from our Artistic Director, Dr. Steven Kronauer:

Artes Vocales 2023/24 season has a great deal of excitement in store as we accept auditions for new members.  We have three main concerts of great choral repertoire that will give us an opportunity to focus on vocal technique and celebrate the great community that makes up Southern California!  As the Artistic Director, it gives me pride to share in music making with this ensemble that comprises some of the best singers in Los Angeles.

We also have a mentorship program for those members that seek extra guidance in voice both in the ensemble or are looking for a private instructor.  Our Mentorship program also sets up a place for local talent to find an artistic home as they develop themselves professionally and are often featured as our soloists. All members of Artes Vocales, no matter their experience level, benefit from our excellent vocal training and focus on vocal health as we perform beautiful choral music together.

Our concert on March 2 and 3, 2024 - Hollywood Sings! includes music used for film with a few surprises in store. We will collaborate with the Angeles Chorale and the Young Men’s Ensemble of the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus! This concert will feature your favorite scores including selections from St. Matthew Passion, Mozart Requiem, Harry Potter, La La Land, Les Miserables, Hamilton, and more! We are also excited to premiere a Maria Newman original piece with Scott VanOrnum on the organ accompanying a silent movie. You will want to sing in this one!

Our Spring Concert on June 1, 2024 - Allelu! will celebrate Alleluias and Amens from around the world. This includes the most famous Hallelujahs of all time, and others.

We welcome current and previous choir members to join in this exciting season.  We also welcome new members to sign up for an audition.

Auditioning is simple.  You can sing a simple folk song or just a quick warm up that the conductor will give you. I'll be listening for proficiency in learning music, a good ear, openness to vocal coaching. and good vocal fit for the ensemble.  You'll then enroll as a singer and pay a modest fee to be a part of this wonderful group of singers.

We continue to accept auditions two to three months before each concert. Auditions can be scheduled by appointment, or you can join the rehearsal and have an audition after the rehearsal on Monday evenings in Pasadena.

Please visit our website HERE to sign up for an audition.
